How does the process of implementing CEDARWOOD usually
work?
Committing to a
database system is a major decision. We want you to be
comfortable with any decision that you make and with every
step in the process. Below is an example of what the
process of implementing CEDARWOOD usually looks like.
Stage 1 - Determine if CEDARWOOD is right for your
organization.
-
Make sure you are looking at the right class of database solutions by answering these questions.
-
Look over our features.
-
See if it is flexible enough to meet your needs.
Stage 2 - Take a test drive.
-
Ask for a trial copy of the CEDARWOOD solution.
-
Request a live web demonstration.
Stage 3 - Make the decision.
-
Make the decision to purchase CEDARWOOD.
-
Sign our client contract.
-
Work with Jason to determine your networking needs.
-
Purchase necessary licenses of FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Server. Install software.
Stage 4a - Set Client-Definable Values.
-
Complete the System Preferences Form.
-
Complete a User Access Form for each user who will initially have access to the system.
-
Complete Value List forms (e.g., meeting spaces)
Stage 4b - Data Migration (if moving old data into CEDARWOOD).
-
Export a snapshot of your current data into an open format. Send that data to John.
-
Work with John to determine how the fields from your old system will match up to the fields in CEDARWOOD.
-
John will convert the snapshot data into a test run copy of CEDARWOOD.
-
Install the test run onto your server.
-
Have your staff review the data, looking for conversion problems.
Stage 4c - Training
-
John or Tony will spend a day or two training your staff to use the system.
-
Take some time to allow all staff to practice with the demo version.
Stage 4d - Web Site Preparation (if purchasing the Online Registration System).
-
Work with Steven to determine how your current website will link to the ORS.
-
Work with Steven to determine your settings for the ORS.
Stage 5 - Go Live.
-
Set up dates to take down your current system and/or to go live with the new system.
-
If you are converting data, perform a final export from your old system and shut it down. Send the data to John. John will convert the data. (Note - depending on the data you are converting, you may be ‘between systems’ for 2 to 7 days.)
-
Begin running off of CEDARWOOD.
-
Perform any necessary data entry and/or data cleanup.
-
Bring the Online Registration System online (if applicable).
